A bit about us…
After losing 35kg over a period of eight months I became more aware of what I was putting into my body. I became more and more convinced that you are what you eat. After searching for food recommendations with regards to ongoing hay fever and acne the top option that kept coming up was to eliminate dairy from my diet. I was skeptical, but was also considering a get-fit diet heading into summer that recommended the same so figured I could try it for two weeks. I was amazed at the results.
A month later, my skin was clear and 18 months of nonstop hay fever had *finally* disappeared. When I sneakily devoured cheese I would notice immediate changes in my skin and hay fever symptoms would start to return.
Unfortunately I would now need to stick with a dairy-free diet, which meant missing out on foods that I loved! I was frustrated with the lack of dairy-free recipes – in particular with baking. Those that were available were vegan and tended to be very complicated with inaccessible ingredients. I just wanted to have good food without dairy!
But then – the ‘a-ha moment’: the perfect homemade, dairy-free chocolate chip cookies. After weeks of recipe development, Alan – who has always been the chef – and I nailed it. And YOU started asking for more recipes just like it.
Cast Iron Cookie is the place for you – we’ve been in your shoes and we’ve created easy to follow recipes that are packed with flavor. Having a dairy intolerance or allergy can be frustrating, but it doesn’t have to mean you’re missing out on Chocolate Cake. Or Tikka Masala. Or Eggs Benedict!
